Work out deals with your local scrap yards in advance. The spot price for metal is generally the best price you can get with a large homogenous quantity of some metal. You’ll likely be bringing in many different types of metals and the quantities may be limited to what you find or what you can haul. Work out a deal where the yard gives you a good price in exchange for consistent influx of scrap metal.
Recycling is one of my favorites. I only hold my scrap for a day and then sell it to the scrap yard the next day. I collect appliances, bed frames, ceiling fans, metal futons,etc.. I pull the copper wire out when it is easy to do because its worth more. I will cover that in another article. Just for scrap mixed metal you get about $6.00 for a 100 pounds. Does not sound like much but it is easy to get a 100 pounds of scrap. For example; a refrigerator, washer, microwave, futon, hot water heater, and five bikes weigh about 800 pounds. That is $48.00 tax free!
One problem with tire recycling is that it is not always cheap. You will sometimes have to pay to recycle tires, and if you are looking for a cheap way to get rid of your unwanted tires, you are going to be disappointed. However, before you rule out this option, talk to your local recycling center to see what options in your area are available.
How does one find spare parts that are suitable for their cars? A lot of people would hesitate to buy parts from recyclers because they are not really sure if these parts are suitable for their cars. If you are one of those people who are afraid that you might get spare parts that are not really suitable for your car, you should bear in mind that your car is a mass produced model and there is bound to be thousands just like it lying around some junk yards waiting to be discovered. If you take some time to really find what you need, you can usually find it in a kia optima spare tire.
One thing that you want to remember no matter who fixes it is that auto parts don’t come cheap. Most of the parts you will need will cost you a little bit of money to a lot of money. It just depends on what needs to be fixed. When you have auto warranty on your car the major repairs and parts will be covered so it won’t cost you much of anything.
Train the kids to put things back where things belong. If there is a home for everything there is always a place to put things back after they use stuff.
